A quick post to congratulate Michelle Bachelet for her victory in the Chilean presidential elections. She will not only become the first female president of that country, but she is a divorced woman, agnostic and socialist. With all those charateristics it is impossible to even become a representative in other countries. One last fact, she is a physician...

All those qualities tell me that she is an educated woman, probably altruistic, experienced, and logical.

Yes, this seems to be the time for Women taking thier rightly place in high political office all around the world....Madam President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia. Congratulations! Last November, I believe, Mrs. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf was declared Africa’s 1st elected woman head of state in history. Wow, with Angela Merkel’s swearing-in
as Germany’s first female chancellor women might be on a roll in taking charge of the "reigns of power" around the world. And Now, Michelle Bachelet in Chile. It is about time and a very good thing, indeed.

Dr. Marco, I found you on my friend, Diane's blog. You are welcome to check out my blog as well.

Yes, it's wonderful news.
I just hope that the CIA doesn't boot her out of office if she refuses to play ball w/them.
The debacle w/Allende in 1970 comes to mind.
Fingers crossed.

Sherril: There is definitely an awakening in this respect. I will be seeing your blog frequently.

Tony and RA: I think the times are different. In the seventies, Chile was one of the fronts of the Cold War. Now, even when having a socialist president, Chle is a strong partner of the US
